Kayak Rebellion Meet

Rebel against what, you say? Against strict rules and agendas? Against those who tell you what to think? You figure it out!

Reimagining the Rebel Naja

The Rebel Naja is already one of the most roll-oriented composite Greenland-style kayaks out there. Question is, can it get better? Among paddlers who spend serious time practicing Greenland rolls, a simple truth appears sooner or later. Skin on frame kayaks allow a freedom of movement that is very difficult to reproduce in composite boats.

To winter rolling

This winter, we set a goal for ourselves: to go out rolling at least once a month for the entire season, no excuses.  Rolling in near-zero degree surface water was a new experience for us, and while it can appear a little intimidating, as it turns out, it is surprisingly enjoyable with a little preparation.

In search for the Holy Grail

I confess, I’m a roller. Not the kind who do one or two rolls for safety to keep the skill alive. No, the passionate kind. How hard can it be? - kind of roller.

Meet the Rollers

We're Tibor and Stefan. We roll kayaks. A lot. Between us, we've placed among the top in Sweden at Greenland rolling competitions.

▸ The build

Four steps, zero shortcuts.

1

We design from experience

Every Rebel starts on Johan Wirsén's drawing board. Our models aren't concepts: they're hard-tested hulls, refined over years of paddling.

2

Skilled hands, real materials

Built by some of Europe's oldest sea-kayak makers. The people laying up your boat know the composites by feel, not by spec sheet.

3

Layup and finish

Your choice of composite layup and finish. Keelstrip, clear coat, and a reinforced sideband joining deck to hull. Each boat gets the extra attention it deserves.

4

You choose the colors

Make it yours. Pick the color scheme for your model and we build it to match: no mass line, no rush, just a Rebel finished the way you want it.

▸ Greenlandic roots

The qajaq came first.

For four thousand years the seal hunters of Greenland built boats to their own bodies: every rib measured in fists and forearms, every line earned on the water.

We don’t reproduce those boats. We carry the method forward: the seal-skin, the lashing is gone, the respect for a hull that has to bring you home. That’s the rebel part: refusing to let the feeling die in a mold.

Built different.

Tracks where you want to go

Hard-chine hulls and low kayaks hold a line in wind and chop without fighting the paddle. Arctic hunters knew this thousands of years ago.

Stupid light

Rebel kayaks builds run mostly at 20kg or less. You will feel the difference.

True to form

Post-production hardened in our oven for optimal durablility and resistance to deformation.

Fitted to your body

Cockpit, deck height and footrest are designed to fit most bodies well. Your dealer helps you dial in your position, and might coach you to "optimize" (train, stretch) your own fit.

Smooth to paddle

Our kayaks let you feel the waves so you can relax and become friends with the water instead of fighting it.

Made to wander

Low decks shed wind; long waterlines eat distance. Built for zig-zagging near the shoreline and big crossings alike.

They don’t go back.

“Paddled my Ilaga 600+ km up the coast. It disappears under you, in the best way.”

Marta L. · Lofoten

“They interviewed me about my preferred paddling and style, then measured me for twenty minutes before cutting a single piece. That tells you everything.”

Devon R. · Vancouver Is.

“My Greenland T is over ten years old, well used and scratchy. Still the best kayak I’ve ever tried. My next kayak will be the same, maybe other color than black.”

Babe S. · Sweden
